BAYSWATER CITY 1 INGLEWOOD UNITED 4

2017_05_27_Bayswater_vs_Inglewood_3986Inglewood United entered the top four of the National Premier Leagues for the first time this season following this afternoon’s 4-1 defeat of neighbouring Bayswater City at 365 Stadium.   Alex Salmon and Ashley Rosindale set the scene by netting inside six minutes with a late goal from debutant Feisal Zaw and Salmon’s second of the afternoon sealing Bayswater’s fate.

“The lads have been working hard in training, they’ve been really concentrating on the tactical side of things and I think it has shown today,” coach Andy Keogh said post-game.   “Our substitutions proved the difference today, with our new addition Feisal Zaw coming on and Adam Tong securing things at the back for a deserved win.”

Bayswater’s pre-game plans were thrown into disarray on 2 minutes when Devon Spence was issued his marching orders after colliding with Brian Woodall.   Replacement goalkeeper Michael Cohen guessed correctly to keep out the resultant spot kick by Salmon, who reacted sharply to bundle in the follow-up.

Play has barely resumed when Matthew Ntoumenopoulos got deep down the right and crossed to the near post where Rosindale headed precisely inside the upright.   The visitors were enjoying some good possession and a tidy exchange put the ball with Ntoumenopoulos whose shot on the run was blocked by Cohen.

Bayswater’s first meaningful chance came on the half hour when Devon Gibson’s header grazed the crossbar.   A few minutes later Jason Mirco burst down the left but Alex Dunn was alert to spoil the opportunity, the loose ball fell to Gustavo Giron-Marulanda but his failed to convert into an unguarded net.

David Cyrus should have made the game safe after the break but, with Cohen caught out of position, his side-foot was cleared off the line by David Stokoe.   Bayswater were given a glimmer of hope nine minutes later when Stokoe nodded in at close-range following a Todd Howarth corner.

That hope was extinguished in the 83rd minute, Woodall playing a delightful pass into the path of substitute Feisal Zaw who made no mistake with his finish.   Salmon completed the scoreline soon after by dancing past four opponents before calmly stroking into the Bayswater net.
