Inglewood United were out-classed to the tune of 7-0 by Perth Glory’s professionals on a chilly evening at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium. The A-League side hit the ground running with Brendan Santalab (3), Fabio Ferriera (2) and Diego Castro netting in the first half, while after the break it was Chris Harold who was on-target.
Santalab waited only 4 minutes before opening Glory’s account, and not long after the veteran striker put away his second goal of the night. Shortly after the half hour Ferreira fired in from the top of the 18-yard box and a few minutes later Santalab completed his hat-trick after being teed up by Castro.
Castro then got in on the act by scoring his teams fifth goal. Inglewood’s first opening didn’t arrive until the 39th minute when Kenny Keogh’s cross was narrowly beyond the reach of Ellis Healing. Half-time was looming large when Ferreira converted at close-range after Santalab lobbed goalkeeper Alex Dunn.
Alex Salmon squandered a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit on by placing wide with an open goal at his mercy on 49 minutes. Harold completed Glory’s haul with a first-time strike into Dunn’s net. Brian Woodall lifted high and Healing’s dead ball was too close to the ‘keeper as Inglewood sought a late consolation.
