RANDAZZO “STOKED” WITH DEBUT

2017_02_12_Inglewood_vs_Subiaco_1358Summer recruit Luke Randazzo can’t wait to pull on an Inglewood United shirt again after making a dream National Premier Leagues debut for the club over the weekend.   Randazzo came off the bench early in Sunday evening’s clash with Bayswater City, replacing the injured Kenny Keogh, to score the opening goal in the 2-2 draw with our nearest neighbours.

Randazzo, who returns to the game this year after a self-imposed break, was thrilled with is first competitive outing since May 2015.   “I was really happy to contribute to the team performance in my first game back at Inglewood,” Randazzo said.   “I was stoked to get on the scoreboard and I’m hoping I can add a few more goals and chip in with a few assists during the year.”

“The character the boys showed in fighting back from two-nil down to a quality opposition was really encouraging.   We showed some good signs in the first half, unfortunately we didn’t take our chances whereas Baysie did.   But full credit to the boys, we didn’t give up and were eventually rewarded when we found the back of the net in the second half.”

“I thought we ran the game out well and could have pushed for one more goal.   We’ll definitely take confidence from the comeback and build on that performance.   This week we’ll assess where we let ourselves down as a team and where we need to improve collectively before hitting the track hard to prepare for Sunday’s game with Sorrento.”

Randazzo was with Inglewood as a teenager prior to joining Balcatta, where he was a regular part of their 2014 line-up.   But the demands of a new job got the better of him the following year.   “I was finding it difficult to make training so I thought it best to take a year off,” said Randazzo, who played ten times for Inglewood during his previous two seasons at the club.

“Having that time off certainly made me appreciate playing football a whole lot more.   I made a conscious effort to keep running over the last year so my fitness was okay, the pre-season was more about getting back on the ball and re-finding my touch.   I’m really motivated to have an impact on game day and play my role for Inglewood this year.”
