ROBERTSON WARNS OF ‘DANGER GAME’

2016_05_07_Inglewood_v_Armadale_8210Inglewood United may well be top of the National Premier Leagues but Tim Robertson is not about to take this weekend’s clash with bottom-of-the-table Subiaco AFC lightly.   In fact, the midfielder has labelled Saturday’s trip to Rosalie Park a ‘danger game’.

Not a lot has gone right so far this year for Subiaco, who are winless after eight league games and exited the FFA Cup at the first hurdle.   But some gritty performances over the past few weeks suggest Mike Brazil’s team are getting close to turning their season around.

“It’s definitely a danger game for us,” Robertson stated.   “Subiaco’s form has been improving of late and they will be aiming to make a huge statement by knocking us off.   They’ve got nothing to lose and a very strong work ethic, which we’ll have to match to maintain our lead in the league.”

Robertson came to Inglewood on the eve of the regular season and immediately set about convincing the coaching staff that he was deserving of a starting spot.   That opportunity didn’t arrive until this time last month and the 23-year old feels Inglewood are yet to see his best.

“To have started the last four game has been really pleasing,” Robertson said.   “Starting positions at Inglewood are hard to come by with a great level of competition amongst the squad.   The big positive about that is it makes every player perform at a higher standard.”

“Personally, I don’t feel I have found the level of consistency over the past month that I’m aiming for, so there are definite areas that I know I can improve in.   As a whole though, it’s been a lot easier to perform at a high level when the team around me is playing so well.”
