THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT AS OUR STARLETS SHINE

2017_10_07_Inglewood_Under13s_squad_balancedUnder-13s coach Kurtis Rae has heaped praise on his players after they completed the recent Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association Carnival without loss.   Inglewood United’s starlets won four and drew one of their five games at the tournament played in Bunbury over the weekend of 7 and 8 October.

“I’m ecstatic with the way the lads played and what they achieved in Bunbury,” Rae commented.   “The players decided between themselves before the tournament that they wanted to be the highest scoring team and that is what they did, scoring 21 goals and only conceding four, to go undefeated over our five games.”

“We’ve been working on playing a more attractive style of football over the previous weeks and they showed that off throughout the tournament.   The lads wanted to prove their ability, they didn’t finish the regular season where they wanted so to see them play so well with smiles on their faces … that is what junior football is all about.”

Inglewood opened with an 8-0 thrashing of the Country Coastal Junior Soccer Association 8-0, a result they backed up by defeating a National Training Centre Girls combined team 5-0.   A trio of games against Junior National Premier Leagues rivals followed with Inglewood downing Rockingham City 2-0 and Subiaco AFC 4-2 before being held 2-2 by Perth SC.

“Unfortunately, we missed out on playing in the Final by goal difference,” Rae commented.   “We had a lot of spectators and officials from other teams compliment us by saying we were the best footballing side in the tournament.   I am very proud of the players, they are a great bunch and I’m pleased to see how they’ve progressed.”

“The lads played some fantastic football in Bunbury, and more importantly they had fun doing it which was the whole purpose of entering the tournament.   Since the regular season ended they have continued to work hard at training and they are started to reap the rewards and show what they are capable of … 2018 is going to be an exciting season.”
