Assistant coach Saul Contera expects to see a big response from Inglewood United’s players when they return to the playing arena this weekend. Saturday’s trip to play Perth Glory presents Inglewood with an opportunity to bounce back from their flat performance against Stirling Lions a fortnight ago.
“The players and coaching staff were naturally disappointed with a below par performance,” Contera said of the 1-3 loss to Stirling. “It was simply a bad day at the office, and we’ve moved on from it. Everyone is itching to get back to winning ways and continue with the progress we have made in the last three months.”
“The football we have been playing has been very eye-catching and effective. The movement, the energy and the freedom which we have been playing has been terrific whilst keeping it solid at the back. It is really pleasing to be associated with a side that plays their football in the right manner.”
“(Coach) Andy (Keogh) has to take a lot of credit for outlining his intent, whilst the boys also deserve credit for executing his instructions and adapting to the changes he has made. We have five ‘finals’ left to play and we intend to keep playing an attractive brand of football whilst picking up three points along the way.”
“We should have a handy buffer at the top of the ladder but instead we’ve let our opponents back into the race. The Stirling game showed that we can’t afford to be complacent no matter where the opposition sits on the ladder … if the output is not there the results won’t be either. We are confident that will not happen again.”
