Defender Alex Ishida-Livings vows complacency won’t be a factor as Inglewood United strive to finish top of the league for the first time in two decades.   With three games remaining Inglewood leads the National Premier Leagues by the slenderest of margins, a single point ahead of Perth SC and Bayswater City.

Inglewood have home ground advantage this weekend and next, against Cockburn City and Balcatta, before venturing to Floreat Athena on the last day of the season.   Ishida-Livings is adamant he and his team mates will be taking nothing for granted while maintaining their standards all the way through to the final whistle.

“As a squad we’ve got high expectations of ourselves and we know that we have to maintain our focus, continue to work hard in training and take things one game at a time,” Ishida-Livings said.   “Whilst the pressure to perform is obviously there, it’s no more than it has been since the first game of the season.”

“The league is incredibly close, there are only three more games and as many as five teams in contention for the league title which means there’s pressure on everyone.   This season has shown time and time again that every team is capable of beating each other and provide a few upsets, so should prove to be an interesting run in.”

“We can’t influence what the chasing teams do so there’s no point wasting energy worrying about them.   Our focus is solely on ourselves and our performance.   We’re in pole position so the league is ours to lose, and consequently we have to treat each game as a cup final to ensure we finish where we deserve to be – on top.”
