Jack Lavis has been savouring the Under-18s historic National Premier Leagues winning performance, but the teenage midfielder says he and his team mates still have a job to do.   Inglewood United’s youth team secured the regular season trophy on Saturday by defeating Floreat Athena 2-0 in the final round of a long campaign.

“Winning the league is an amazing achievement and something really special for all of us,” Lavis said.   “When the season started I had a good feeling about how the year would go for us.   We have a lot of quality players in the squad and we performed well as a team throughout the season.”

“Credit has to go to our coaches, Richie (Abrams) and Alex (Carter), all the boys have the upmost respect for them.   They have high standards and we have risen to the challenge to reach the levels of performance they have expected of us.   We would not have finished top without such great coaches.”

Lavis’ next assignment is this weekend’s Top Four Cup Major Semi-Final showdown with Bayswater City, who ended the regular season one point behind Inglewood.   “We’re extremely happy to have won the league but the season is not yet over,” said Lavis.   “We are full focused on the finals and completing the double.”

“I believe we still have room for improvement in our performances and we will be hitting our best form over the next few weeks.   We’re only a few games away from what would be a huge achievement and to finish the season with two trophies is something I feel we are good enough to do.”
