Midfielder Ellis Healing was pleased to make his Inglewood United debut on the weekend but admits he’d rather it came under different circumstances.   The 23-year old midfielder scored the team’s opening goal and laid on the second for David Cyrus as a ten-man Inglewood came from behind to draw 2-2 with Stirling Lions.

“It was nice to get a goal on debut but we should be winning games like that,” said Healing, who was pleased with Inglewood’s performance following the dismissal of Scott Robertson at half-time.   “It’s a big pitch to be a man down on but we still managed to have the better of the second half.”

“It was a bit of a strange game really.   We made a slow start and we need to be playing to a higher level that we did in the first half.   We stepped it up in the second half and it’s difficult not to be disappointed that we didn’t come away with all three points on Friday night.”

England-born Ellis started out in Crewe Alexandra’s youth system before taking up a two-year scholarship with Tranmere Rovers.   He played for BK Sport (Sweden), Hyde FC (England) plus Welsh clubs Conwy Borough, Airbus UK Broughton and Caernarfon Town prior to linking with Armadale in 2016.

The 23-year old returned to the Welsh Premier League with Cefn Druids, where he was playing as recently as last month.   “I’d been looking to move back to Western Australia when the opportunity came up to join Inglewood through my mate Sammo (Alex Salmon), who I played with at Armadale,” Ellis explained.

“I’m happy with how I’ve settled in at Inglewood.   All the coaching staff and players have been welcoming and friendly towards me, which I’m greatly appreciative of.   My initial impression of Inglewood is that it’s a club that is focused on success and, hopefully, we’ll go on to get the league title this year.”
