OLIVEIRA REVEALS INJURY CONCERNS AHEAD OF PERTH CLASH

2017_01_10_Inglewood_pre-season_training_1319Star trio Alex Salmon, Ellis Healing and David Cyrus will be given every opportunity to prove their fitness ahead of this evening’s National Premier Leagues game with Perth SC.   Inglewood United take on their inner city rivals under lights at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium tonight just five days after defeating Perth Glory.

Assistant coach Andres Oliveira says that win, courtesy of second half goals by Alex Salmon and Ellis Healing, came at a cost to Inglewood.   “After the Glory game a few players pulled up sore,” Oliveira said on this week’s edition of ‘Let’s Talk Football’.   “We rested a few players but it did take a toll.”

“Alex and Ellis both had ankle problems so we’ll wait on fitness tests to see how they pull up (and) David Cyrus is carrying tightness in his hamstring.   We had a pool session on Monday and they were all still feeling it … we’re sweating those three players but, hopefully, they’ll turn out to be okay.”

An Inglewood win tonight has the potential to push them into the top five for the first time this season.   However, Oliveira is well aware that is easier said than done.   “With Perth you have to be 100% or else they will punish you,” he said.   “Our aim is to concentrate for the whole game, pick out their weaknesses and come away with the win.”
