DUNN ASSERTS LEAGUE TITLE IS STILL THE GOAL

2017_04_28_Perth_Glory_vs_Inglewood_9954Inglewood United have not given up on winning the National Premier Leagues title according to goalkeeper Alex Dunn.   At the half-way stage of the season Inglewood are positioned fifth on the competition ladder, only a single point outside the top four but some eight points behind league leaders Bayswater City.

Dunn, who joined the club in 2016, says that gap is similar to the one Inglewood reeled in last season.   “We are eight points off top, last year we were ten or so points off top before we went on a ten-game unbeaten run only to be pipped for the trophy on the final day, so the task isn’t impossible,” Dunn commented.

“Having said that, it’s not going to be easy but you don’t enter a competition not to win it.   That’s what we will be looking to do by taking each game as it comes.   We just have to concentrate on ourselves, keep getting positive results and picking up points and see what happens with the other teams.”

Inglewood will need to tighten their defence if they are to challenge for top honours.   Dunn has a solitary clean sheet to his name from thirteen games while Inglewood’s goal difference is considerably inferior to those above them on the ladder.   “We can do better defensively as a unit,” Dunn stated.

“We have conceded far too many goals and we have been exposed too often.   That combined with the entire team being switched on for the entire 90 minutes and managing games so we come away with three points.   If we can improve in those areas, it will go a long way to taking us where we want to be.”
