Goal-a-game striker Alex Salmon maintains he is yet to find peak form this season. The 23-year old finisher will go into tomorrow’s National Premier Leagues fixture at Stirling Lions on the back of a sensational eight-game run that’s seen him find the back of the net just as many times.
But Salmon, who missed the opening seven games of the campaign, says there is still room for improvement. “On personal level I’m happy, I’m scoring goals and I’m helping the team,” said Salmon, whose haul of 28 goals in 25 league appearances was rewarded with last seasons’ Golden Boot award.
“But I’m a long way away from the top of my game, I feel I could improve every aspect which comes from games and training, doing the right things on and off the pitch. My fitness is getting better and I’m feeling sharper each game so, hopefully, it won’t be long before it’s all clicking.”
Salmon is looking forward to stepping out at Macedonia Park on Saturday following a week off due to the Cup round. It’s been three years since Inglewood last got the better of Stirling and the English striker says the time has come for the tables to be turned.
“Stirling beat us both times last year and deservedly so,” Salmon commented. “We will need to be on our game and if that happens then the result will take care of itself. I’m excited for the game as I know their centre-half, Liam Henderson, and I’m hoping he’s forgotten how to keep his legs shut.”
