BARRERA KEEN TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM

2018_04_21_Inglewood_vs_Forrestfield_9714Midfield maestro Jason Barrera says there is too much at stake for Inglewood United to take a relaxed attitude into this weekend’s home fixture with Armadale.   An impressive unbeaten five-game run has lifted Inglewood to fifth on the National Premier League ladder, seven points behind leaders Bayswater City.

With nine regular season games to play, Barrera and his teammates have not given up hope of overhauling Bayswater to claim regular season honours.   And it’s for that reason the Inglewood playmaker is urging his team to take the momentum of the past month into Saturday afternoon.

“There is no way we will be taking Armadale lightly,” commented Barrera, who has spent more minutes on the park this year than any other out-field player at Inglewood.   “We have worked hard to get to where we are and we’ll be looking to take our recent form into Saturday’s game and get the three points.”

“The whole team has been playing well these last few weeks.   In our past five games we’ve kept three clean sheets and conceded once in each of the other two games.   That is a credit to our defence and goalkeeper Alex Dunn, who has been outstanding in making a number of crucial saves for the team.”

“We set out this year to finish on top of the ladder and last Sunday’s win over Bayswater keeps us within reach to fight for top spot.   Every game is a must-win for us now and we also need other results to go our way if we’re to have a chance of being where we want come seasons end.”
