WE’VE GOT MORE BITE TO OUR GAME: CYRUS

Defender David Cyrus has vowed his team will be a much different proposition when they travel to ECU Joondalup this weekend.   The northern suburbs outfit have upset Inglewood United twice already this year, claiming the points from their early April league encounter and triumphing again five days later in the FFA Cup.

With Inglewood now striving to cement their place in the National Premier Leagues top four, Cyrus says a lot has changed since those two early season losses.   “We have the same players and we are the same team as we were three months ago but these days we have a lot more bite,” Cyrus commented.

“We have found the grit and determination that was missing earlier in the season to grind out results when things aren’t going our way.   I am sure come 3pm Saturday we will be organised and set-up to manage Joondalup’s strengths, punish their weaknesses and to do what it takes to get the win.”

But, as Cyrus is well aware, getting that outcome is much easier said than done.   “Joondalup have a tough spine and are a hard-working side that are difficult to break down once in possession,” Cyrus said of an opponent that has come out on top in eight of their last eleven meetings with Inglewood.

“This weekend will definitely be an entertaining game as both teams have a lot to play for.   We’ve had a good week on the training track and the lads are all in good spirits and raring to go … it would be nice to make up for the two losses earlier on in the season and come out with the three points on Saturday.”
