Frequently Asked Questions MiniRoos & Development

What ages does Inglewood cater for?
Children aged 6 to 16 are welcome to play junior football with Inglewood.

When does the season start and finish?
The junior football season in Western Australia usually starts in early April and runs through to mid-September. Games are not played during School Holiday breaks.

Pre-season training usually commences four to six weeks before the first game.

Can my child play in a team with her/his friends?
Yes. Our policy is to provide children a positive football experience, so best efforts will be made to place friends in the same team.

Should a player be in a first level team and their friend(s) be in the second level team, the player in the first level team would have to opt to play in the second level team.

Can girls play football at Inglewood?
Absolutely! Girls can play in mixed-gender teams either within their own age, or one age group younger. Girls in U8 to U16 may wish to join one of our all-girls squads.

Who coaches Inglewood’s junior teams?
Our MiniRoos and Development teams are coached by a combination of former/current National Premier Leagues players and parent-coaches. All coaches are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Parent-coaches will be supported by the Clubs’ Technical Director and Junior Chairperson.

Coaches can’t do everything and require help with skill drills and activities each week. We encourage ALL parents to get involved.

When is game day for Inglewood juniors?
U6 and U7 MiniRoos play small-sided games on Sunday mornings at Walter Road Reserve, Inglewood and at opposition club grounds as fixtured by Football West.

U8 to U12 MiniRoos teams play on Sunday mornings at venues across the north metropolitan area.

Development teams (U13 to U16) play on Sunday mornings at venues across the metropolitan area.

Football West release fixtures for all teams closer to the start of the season. Please note, however, that opponents and start times are subject to change.

Players are expected to arrive for a game a minimum of 30-45 minutes prior to kick-off. Exact timings are at the coaches discretion.

The home ground for all Inglewood United junior teams is Walter Road Reserve, Inglewood.

When do Inglewood juniors train?
Training takes place weekday afternoons at Walter Road Reserve, Inglewood.

Teams U6’s to U9’s train a minimum of once a week.

Teams U10’s to U16’s train twice a week.

Training days and times for each team are typically confirmed in March prior to the start of the season.   Parents are encouraged to assist the coach in training for younger teams.

Players are expected to arrive for training a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the start time.

What equipment do I need to buy?
You will need to purchase football boots and shin pads. These items are mandatory, a player cannot train or play without these items.
