Player of the Year David Cyrus credits the arrival of new coach Trim Morgan for what has been a spirited pre-season for Inglewood United. Morgan, a former State team captain, was handed the coaching reins in mid-September and has made no secret of his desire to finish his first season in charge of Inglewood with a trophy.
Cyrus, who is heading into this fourth winter at the club, has been impressed with how Morgan and his assistance Willie Kelly have transitioned into their new roles. “It’s been really good feeling getting back into the swing of things and getting to know Trim and Willie,” Cyrus commented.
“It’s been nice to have someone come in that wasn’t overly familiar with any of the existing squad. No favourites, no friends, we are all starting fresh. Everyone has been treated equally and fairly and that has been reflected with the work rate and respect we have all shown in return.”
Inglewood has been in pre-season mode for some six weeks, all of which has been spent in the gymnasium. “We’ve been at the Green Zone up in Warwick,” explained Cyrus, who is looking forward to stepping onto the training track in coming weeks. “It’s been gruelling to say the least.”
“Esat Bilaloski has been putting us through the hard yards with a high-intensity circuit training program designed to get us to where we want to be before the Christmas break. Even the Gaffa has been getting involved, which shows how much he wants to work hard and achieve something this year.”
“I’m sure that come the New Year when we get the balls out everyone is going to be given the opportunity to showcase their abilities and earn their spot in the squad. I’m looking forward to working under both Trim and Willie and, hopefully, making this another exciting season for Inglewood United.”
