Inglewood United and Sorrento played out a scoreless draw in their opening round Night Series encounter at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.   It wasn’t through a lack of trying that the game finished 0-0 with both teams trading attacks but lacking a decisive finish across an entertaining 90 minutes.

Sorrento settling the better with early shots from Tim Hill and Reece Vittiglia.   Brian Woodall squandered a golden opportunity to give Inglewood the lead by blasting high from the penalty spot on 35 minutes.   Josh Lim then sent successive shots over the crossbar as the hosts finished the half positively.

Mark Barnett almost broke the deadlock with a 62nd minute header that flashed narrowly over the top.   And Alex Morgan’s spectacular scissor-kick midway through the second period was straight at Alex Dunn.   The game ended on a low note with David Cyrus forced out by a shoulder injury.
