Danskin Rules A Line Under Injury

Inglewood United will be close to full-strength for this weekend’s meeting with Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park this weekend.   The inner city club struggled with a lengthy injury list early in the season but have surged up the National Premiers Leagues standings following the return of several key players.   “Injuries are a big factor in how your season pans out,” said defender Matt Danskin.   “We were hit early in the season but that’s just football, you deal with it and do your best with what’s available. 2014_03_29_Inglewood_v_Balcatta_0656

Inglewood opened the home and away series with four straight losses, but since a ‘clearing of the air’ session the club have charged up the standings on the back of a five-game unbeaten run.   “We did some soul searching as a player group, put our cards on the table, some home truths were told and we then set some goals that we wanted to achieve,” Danskin explained.   “The players knew that Graham was under a lot of pressure but Normo being Normo, (he) never deflected blame on his players.   He always had confidence in us and the players have responded.”

Danskin was one of those sidelined by injury, the 29-year old only recently coming into the line-up after overcoming hamstring and adductor problems.   “My injuries are all clear now and I’m really enjoying my football again,” he commented.   “I’m looking forward to the Cockburn game.   It’s never an easy place to go and get a result and Saturday will be no different.   We have set out goals and head there full of confidence and will be looking for all three points to keep our winning form intact.”   Inglewood’s game with Cockburn kicks off at 3.00pm on Saturday.
