Attacker Ryan Clarke has celebrated his fifth season with Inglewood United by making a clean sweep of the clubs’ awards. Clarke went home from Friday evening’s presentation ceremony at Crown Casino with every first team trophy on offer – Fairest and Best, Players Player of the Year and Golden Boot.
Clarke was out in front of Fairest and Best counting early, going vote-for-vote with fellow attacker Ryan Francis. The 27-year old broke away over the second half of the winter to tally 105 votes, almost double that of runner-up David Sesay (56 votes). Captain Greg Sharland (46 votes) came in third just ahead of Francis and Jason Colli (44 votes each).
Clarke’s on-field peers installed him as Players’ Player of the Year, while hitting the back of the net 15 times in 18 league appearances earned him Golden Boot honours. The Siggy Kramer Club Person Award was won by junior committee member and website administrator Nick Woods.
Josh Demarte, who broke into the senior line-up towards the end of the winter, picked up the Rising Star Award as well as the Under-20s Fairest and Best trophy. 30 votes were enough to give Demarte the Under-20s top prize ahead of team captain Cameron Sutton (24 votes) and Dario Pavic (23 votes).
Davide Panaia won a closely run race for the Under-18s Fairest and Best, pipping Kia Bako-Kirkpatrick by just a couple of votes. When counting was complete it was Panaia (36 votes) that sat top of the pile ahead of Bako-Kirkpatrick (34 votes) with third-place shared by Jordan Blank and Riaz Kelly (29 votes).
