Goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski says the timing of this weekend’s National Premier Leagues fixture with Bayswater City could not be better. Inglewood United picked up their first point of the campaign last Saturday by holding Perth SC to a 1-1 draw, and in the process consigned to history a heavy opening round loss to Cockburn City.
“Perth was a huge bounce back,” said Vrteski before turning his attention on Saturday’s opponent. “Bayswater are the leagues’ benchmark, they set the standard that the rest of us need to catch up too. It’ll be another huge test for our new-look side, but we’ll be looking to progress from the Perth game and continue to improve.”
Striker Kenny Keogh has been working hard all week to convince coach Michael Garcia of his recall, likewise Jason Colli who played off the bench against UWA-Nedlands on Monday. Injury will keep David Micevski out of action with Matt Izzo also in doubt. Inglewood takes on Bayswater on Saturday, kick-off 3.00pm, at Frank Drago Reserve.
