The FFA Cup comes into focus this weekend with Inglewood United up against State Cup holders Bayswater City in Round Five of the nation-wide tournament. It only a fortnight since the teams played out a 1-1 draw in the league and Monday’s game at Inglewood Stadium (3.00pm) promises to be a similarly tense encounter.

“It’s a big game,” commented Matt Izzo, scorer of Inglewood’s goal in last weekend’s draw with Balcatta. “A good Cup run is great for the club and something we are looking to do. We have been improving each week and if we continue on with the form we believe we can get the win.”

Izzo, a former Perth Glory Youth team player, is well aware of the danger which lurks inside Bayswater’s line-up. “We pushed them in the last game but we have to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes,” he said. “If we don’t do that, they have players that can turn it on at any time.”

Attacking midfielders David Sesay and David Micevski are unavailable but Michael Garcia’s options have been bolstered by the recent arrival of Aleks Jovic, Adriano Jelenovic and Tim Gould. Bayswater boss Chris Coyne also has a few welcome selection headaches with Steve Burton, Phil Arnold and Brian Farrell knocking on the selection door.
