MAKECHE SIGNS WITH SARAWAK

2011_05_07_Inglewood_v_Cockburn_0031Former Inglewood United striker Ndumba Makeche has extended his stay in Malaysia by signing for Super League club Sarawak FA.   Makeche, who moved into professional football after starring for Inglewood, was revealed over the weekend as one of six additions coach K. Rajagobal has made to his squad ahead of the 2016 season.

“I’m very happy to be joining Sarawak,” 23-year old Makeche said of his switch to the Borneo-based club, following two seasons with Felda United.   “I’m hoping to continue my goal scoring and help Sarawak climb the table next season.   I know they have very passionate fans and I can’t wait to play in front of them.”

Zambian-born Makeche shot to prominence as a teenager with Inglewood, scoring the 2011 Premier League Goal of the Season and placing fifth in that year’s Gold Medal.   A few months later he turned professional with Perth Glory, and in early 2014 moved to Malaysia in search of first team football.

Makeche is amongst six new faces in the Sarawak squad, the others being Malaysian internationals K. Gurusamy and Syahrul Azwari, Brazilian striker Gilmar Jose Da Silva Filho, young goalkeeper Shahril Saa’ri and midfielder Akmal Noor.   Sarawak placed tenth in the twelve-team Malaysian Super League this year.
