WITSCHGE WAITING PATIENTLY

2016_07_02_Inglewood_v_Bayswater_8808Scott Witschge may not be happy with the way his year is panning out but don’t take that to mean the versatile midfielder is contemplating a move away from Inglewood United.   A broken foot suffered in pre-season was hardly an ideal way to start the season but the 22-year old has gone on to become a regular fixture of Taki Nicolaidis’ line-up.

Witschge has featured in ten of Inglewood’s last eleven games, unfortunately, the majority of those have been off the bench.   “I come on and work hard for the team regardless of the situation but in terms of goals and assists I’m far from pleased,” commented Witschge, who is faced with the challenge of breaking into a winning side.

“It’s proving to be very hard to break into the eleven – when the team wins it is very hard for Taki to make changes.   I’m waiting in the wings for my chance but if we keep winning and everyone stays fit and healthy then I’m going to have to be content to do my best for the team from the bench.”

And although he’d rather have a greater role to play this year, Witschge is relishing in the fact he’s part of an Inglewood side that sits atop the National Premier Leagues.   “Given how my previous four years at Inglewood have gone, I’m extremely pleased with how this year is going for the club,” he said.

“We have a lot of players that have experienced success in this league and that is something that you can’t put a price on.   We are proving that you don’t need to dominate possession to win games, we find a way to score at either set pieces or counter attacks and the odd bit of ticker-tacker and then we keep teams out at the other end.”
