“WE CAN’T AFFORD TO SLIP UP” SAYS MIGAS

2016_05_21_Subiaco_v_Inglewood_8360Utility player John Migas rates this weekend’s away game with Armadale as the most important 90 minutes of the season.   Inglewood United ventures to the eastern suburbs on Saturday afternoon with the slenderest of advantages in the race for regular season honours.

With just four National Premier Leagues games remaining Inglewood leads the way on 36 points, but with Bayswater City (35) and Perth SC (34) – who meet at Dorrien Gardens on Sunday – in hot pursuit.   “As we get close to the end of the season each game is more important than the last,” Migas said.

“We can’t afford to slip up now.   The equation is simple for us, win the rest of our games and we finish on top of the league.   Inglewood hasn’t been in this position for a very long time and we know how much this would mean to the club, let alone to us players.”

Armadale, however, aren’t a team to be taken lightly, especially given they sit just two points clear of the relegation zone.   Add to that the fact they’ve defeated Bayswater and State Cup finalists Cockburn City in recent weeks and the challenge ahead for Inglewood becomes much more evident.

“For as long as I can remember Armadale have been able to cause some major upsets, especially at their home ground,” said Migas.   “They’re in a lot better form than us at the moment, coming off a couple of big wins over Bayswater and Cockburn, so we know how tough this challenge is going to be.”

“We beat them 5-2 earlier in the year but it wasn’t as convincing a win as the scoreline suggests.   They controlled the game for periods at a time and didn’t take their chances.   There is a lot at stake for us and we are going to have to be at our very best if we’re going to take home the three points.”
