Striker Brian Woodall guided Inglewood United to their twelfth win of the season by scoring both goals in this afternoon’s 2-1 away defeat of Armadale. The win keeps Inglewood on top of the National Premier Leagues ladder with only three regular season game remaining.
Assistant coach Saul Contera was pleased to collect the three points but feels there is still room for improvement in his team’s performance. “We came here to get the three points and we ended up getting them so we are happy with that,” he said.
“We could have played better, there is no doubt about that, but in the context of what we are playing for three points is all that matters. Now we have three more finals to play and if we win those three games then we are the champions.”
Woodall had Inglewood on the scoreboard early by slotting into an empty net after meeting Ashley Rosindale’s cut back. The margin would have been doubled on 27 if not for Alec Radonich, the goalkeeper diving low to keep out Adam Tong’s glancing touch on Mark Pritchard’s delivery.
Armadale pulled level seven minutes after the interval through Michael Domfeh’s header. However, their joy was short-lived as Woodall lashed in after expertly bringing down Pritchard’s ball to the far post. Alex Dunn ensured Inglewood picked up the win with an acrobatic save to Anthony Skorich’s long-range effort.
