Inglewood United have fallen from the Night Series at the first hurdle after going down 3-0 to Sorrento under lights at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium. Scott Witschge, who switched to Sorrento from Inglewood over the summer, put the northeners into an early lead before Scott Bulloch struck twice to book a semi-final appearance.
“We are very disappointed with the score line and performance. It’s definitely not the start we were looking for,” said coach Taki Nicolaidis. “If we are going to be successful this season then we need to ensure that we become a lot more ruthless in front of goal and that we must do those little ‘one percenters’ much better than we did.”
“We now have three weeks until the National Premier Leagues season starts and need to regroup and remain positive. We are going to have to hard work and fine tune a few things before our Round One clash against Bayswater City. I’m pretty confident we will improve on things and will be up for the challenge ahead.”
