INGLEWOOD PRIMED FOR LEAGUE SEASON: COLLI

2017_01_10_Inglewood_pre-season_training_1253Jason Colli says Inglewood United are in tip-top condition for the home and way series thanks to a balanced pre-season program put together by coach Taki Nicolaidis.   Inglewood commences their 2017 National Premier Leagues campaign on Sunday evening at home to back-to-back Night Series winners Bayswater City.

Colli has enjoyed his first full pre-season under Nicolaidis, saying the foundations have been laid for Inglewood to end their decade-plus trophy drought.   “We have worked pretty hard this off-season,” Colli said on the eve of his fourteenth winter at the club.   “Taki has mixed fitness sessions with ball work, which has been really good and kept us fresh.”

“Some of the pre-seasons I’ve done in the past have been based around a lot of running.   That’s important but you have to get the balance right, which I feel Taki has done.   It’s been a tough pre-season but that is what you expect at this time of the year.   The focus has been on our first league game as that is when it all really begins.”

“The squad is pretty much the same as last year, a few players have moved on but we’ve also gained some quality and depth for what will be a longer than usual season.   We went close to winning the league last year and I expect we’ll be challenging again.   If we can perform to the best of our ability I’m sure we’ll bring some silverware back to the clubhouse in 2017.”
