ROSINDALE GIVES NEW-LOOK ATTACK THE THUMBS UP

2017_02_26_Inglewood_vs_Sorrento_2218Ashley Rosindale knows he’ll need to be on top of this game to command a spot in Inglewood United’s new-look attack.   For the new season coach Taki Nicolaidis has at his disposal an abundance of attacking options in Brian Woodall, Kenny Keogh, Alex Salmon and Rosindale.

With Salmon spearheading the attack, coach Taki Nicolaidis has utilised Woodall, Keogh and Rosindale in slightly different roles to last season.   Rosindale, who featured 27 times in his first season with the club, says the initial signs have been positive for Inglewood’s new-look attack.

“It’s early days but the new strike force is gelling well,” Rosindale commented.   “When a new player comes in always takes a bit of time to get to know each other’s movement and style of play.   Alex Salmon has joined the club this year and he’s started really well with three goals in his first two games.”

“And with Brian Woodall, Kenny Keogh and myself playing around him, we have options to score goals from a number of different attacking areas of the pitch.   There is a lot of competition for places in the final third this year which means everyone will have to be performing to keep their spot in the line-up.”

After successive draws, Inglewood will be looking to take maximum points for the first time this year when they host Subiaco AFC on the weekend.   Subiaco enter the third round of fixtures at the foot of the NPL standings after losing on day one to Cockburn City and the postponement of last weekend’s trip to Bayswater City.

Rosindale knows all too well that Subiaco, despite their lowly position, are not a team to be underestimated.   “Anyone on their day is capable of causing an upset if you don’t play close to your best – last season’s home game against Subiaco is proof of that,” said Rosindale, referencing the shock 0-1 loss Inglewood suffered last August.

“We know that if we want to be in the mix come season’s end that we have to take points off teams that are below us in the league.   After drawing our first two games against solid opposition teams – Bayswater and Sorrento – we are desperate to get our first win of the campaign … hopefully it will arrive on Saturday.”
