ECU JOONDALUP 3 INGLEWOOD UNITED 2

2017_03_11_Joondalup_vs_Inglewood_0982Inglewood United surrendered a two-goal lead as ECU Joondalup ran out 3-2 winners on a sunny afternoon in the northern suburbs.   Early strikes by Ashley Rosindale and Alex Salmon had Inglewood in a seemingly commanding position only for the home side to turn the tables with a trio of unanswered goals.

Rosindale gave Inglewood a dream start by heading into Fraser Greenwood’s net after getting on the end of Alex Ishida-Livings’ pin-point delivery in just the 8th minute.   It took only another eight minutes before the lead was doubled, Salmon losing his marker to nod in the back post after a corner was flicked on.

Inglewood should have had a third after Brian Woodall and Rosindale combined down the right but Salmon lifted over the crossbar when well-placed.   Pickering halved the difference in the shadows of half-time, the towering defender rising highest to head in Daryl Nicol’s deep cross from the right.

The second half opened with Inglewood again on the attack, Woodall centring to Salmon whose low shot was turned away by Greenwood.   Alex Dunn denied Nicol soon after but on 75 minutes there wasn’t a lot he could do as the Joondalup midfielder raced clear to put away the equaliser.

Joondalup went ahead for the first time five minutes later with Nicol again getting the better of the defence before finding the back of the net.   There was still enough time for Inglewood to salvage their afternoon but Jack Jones’ last gasp tackle thwarted Woodall and in stoppage time Salmon rifled high.
