PERTH SC 1 INGLEWOOD UNITED 2

2017_04_08_Perth_vs_Inglewood_2976English striker Brian Woodall grabbed a last gasp winner to complete a remarkable comeback as Inglewood United beat Perth SC 2-1 in the National Premier Leagues.   Woodall struck with just minutes remaining, adding to Alex Salmon’s finish just before the hour, to earn Inglewood back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Woodall told nplwa.com.au he was pleased with the overall team performance and spoke humbly of his individual impact.   “It was great to score a winner, it’s a good feeling, but I think we worked hard as a team and deserved the full points there at the end,” he said.

Inglewood made clear their intention clear from the outside with Woodall heading wide from a Mark Pritchard free-kick.   But it was the hosts when got the lead with a lucky goal on the quarter hour, Alex Dunn’s attempt to clear crashing into Harley Orr and ricocheting into the Inglewood net.

Recognising an immediate response was required, Jason Colli drove down the right to deliver an inviting cross for Alex Salmon but he was unable to steer the ball goalward.   Inglewood breathed a sigh of relief just before the break when Tom King’s shot on the end of a surging run was deflected wide.

The second half opened with Adam Tong’s close-range header bringing a terrific reflex save from Francis Soale.   Inglewood got the got they were after soon enough, Woodall’s clever flick finding the feet of Pritchard whose precision pass was tucked in by Salmon from a few metres.

Inglewood mounted a late charge thanks to the introduction of attack-minded pair Chok Dau and Ashley Rosindale.   And with two minutes remaining Dau quickly transferred possession to Woodall who displayed great composure in sending the ball past Soale from 9-metres.
