Young defender Conor Becsi has revealed his frustration at missing the pre-season through injury. The 22-year centre-back has been forced to watch Inglewood United’s Night Series campaign from the sidelines after recently undergoing surgery for a knee problem.
“After working so hard to be fit and ready for the 2019 season, sustaining an injury at this stage of the season is devastating,” commented Becsi, who made 18 appearances last year. “I was doing some extra training at the gym in the off-season, I landed on my right knee and it just gave way.”
“I strained the medial ligament and did some cartilage damage inside my knee which required surgery a fortnight ago. The surgeon gave me the all clear last week to commence rehab with (Inglewood physiotherapist) Katie (Holtham) … I imagine that’ll entail gradual loading and strength movements.”
“I’m not a good spectator so it’s been fairly miserable watching the boys during the last few weeks. I cannot wait to get back out there and enjoy playing again. If all goes to plan I should be at match fitness in around six weeks, so around Round Two of the league.”
