Promising youngster Connor Becsi can see the light at the end of the tunnel following a lengthy absence through injury. The 21-year old defender has spent the better part of twelve months battling chronic Osteitis Pubis, an inflammation of the pubis symphysis, caused by an impingement in the hips.
Diagnosed with the condition last April, only days after making his Inglewood debut against Joondalup United, Becsi went under the surgeon’s knife in October and is now closing in fast on a return to full fitness. “The road to recovery has being long, tough and frustrating,” Becsi admitted.
“The first couple of months post-op involved a lot of mobility and strengthening work. After that it was light running and building up my overall strength and range of motion. I’m now in the tail end of my recovery which is all about loading my body with strength work, higher intensity running and football itself.”
“I owe (Inglewood physiotherapist) Katie (Holtham) a big ‘thank you’ for developing my recovery programs following surgery and monitoring the injury and my body whilst trying to attain 100% fitness. It goes without saying that I would not be where I am now without her guidance and advice.”
Becsi has recently made his return to action with a couple of 45 minute hit-outs in the Under-20s. “I’m feeling really good,” he commented. “I’ll keep working hard and when I can sustain a full 90 minutes – which should be somewhere in the next couple of weeks – I’ll start pushing for first team selection.”
“It was devastating to have to sit in the stands week in, week out and not be able to contribute to the team I’d been training with for so long … you end up feeling isolated from the playing group in a way. I’m glad all that is behind me and I’m back training and getting amongst it.”
