Long-serving defender Scott Blackmore has expressed his surprise at becoming the latest player to enter the 100-game club at Inglewood United.   The 31-year old notched up his century in last weekend’s National Premier Leagues clash with his former club, ECU Joondalup.

“Wow, 100 games, I didn’t realise … that is a nice surprise,” Blackmore commented when told of his century milestone.   “You obviously don’t go out there to achieve personal milestones but they are always nice to chalk up all the same.”

“I’ve played with some very good players over the years and naturally there’s been a few ups and downs throughout those games.   I am proud to have played 100 games for the club and, hopefully, there are a few more left in the aging body.”

Blackmore enjoyed a brief spell with Inglewood in early 2005 but he didn’t cement his place in the game day line-up until returning nine years later.   A lot has changed in the intervening five years to suggest the club is heading towards a successful future.

“Inglewood is my local club, it’s always been a good club that has shown potential to be a great club,” Blackmore said.   “The club has been progressively getting better, both on and off the pitch since I returned, and particularly in the last couple of seasons.”

“It’s a more professional club these days, we’ve been more successful on the park and have more of a winning mentality where we expect to be challenging for trophies.   The facilities have also improved and although everything is at a higher level we still want to continue to improve.”

“There are a lot of great people behind the club, they’ve been the driving force in creating the environment that we have today.   Everyone is committed to Inglewood being the club of choice – the club players want to play for.   It’d be nice to reinforce that by winning some silverware – that is about all that is missing.”
