BLACKMORE ENTHUSED BY TOP FOUR CHALLENGE

Inglewood United won’t be dwelling on what might have been when they face Bayswater City in this weekend’s Top Four Cup Major Semi-Final according to Scott Blackmore.   Inglewood’s hopes of lifting the regular season crown ended in heartbreak last weekend when held to a 1-1 draw at Floreat Athena.

That result allowed Bayswater to leapfrog over Inglewood and claim the National Premier Leagues trophy by a single point over their nearest neighbour.   Blackmore says conceding the league on the final day was a very bitter pill to swallow, but the experienced defender is adamant his team are ready to bounce right back.

“It’s obviously disappointing to get as close to winning the league as we did but we won’t be dwelling on what could have been,” Blackmore said.   “The boys are a hungry bunch, as a group we have moved on from the weekend and we know we can still make the season a success by bringing a trophy home.”

“We’ve beaten every team in the top four through the season and this weekend is another big game against a close rival.   We’ve had some great battles with Bayswater over the years and we have a fairly good record in recent times against them, especially at their ground where we won 4-1 earlier in the year”

“It’d be nice to go there and beat them again, and make them play the extra game (next Wednesday’s Preliminary Final).   We know that to be the best, you have to beat the best and we are going to have to be on it this weekend.   These are the games that every player wants to be involved in, so we go to Bayswater looking forward to the challenge.”
