Inglewood United’s juniors will reap the benefits of last week’s visit by English Premier League club Chelsea. David Monk from the Chelsea Foundation shared the philosophy and practical delivery of training and games used at the Chelsea Academy during Thursday evenings coach education workshop at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.
Inglewood was well represented on the night with Technical Director Alex Stanojevic along with youth team coaches David Scragg (Under-18s), Kurt Harrison (Under-16s), Mcallister Leeson-Crane (Under-15s), Kurtis Rae (Under-14s), Hung Huynh, John Papadopolous (Under-13s) and Tony Fiorucci (SAP trainer) in attendance.
In total around 60 coaches attended the workshop which commenced with a one-hour introduction to the vision, mission and goals of the Chelsea Academy. The London club’s facilities were showcased along with their commitment to the region through the Chelsea International Development Centre in Bangkok.
The Foundation coaches then spent time on the pitch working with players from Inglewood’s Under-11 through to Under-14 squads. Thursday’s workshop was one in a series of Chelsea Foundation coaching clinics and education workshops in the lead-up the club’s glamour friendly with Perth Glory on Monday.
