Brian Woodall’s second goal in as many weeks guided Inglewood United to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Cockburn City. Woodall punished a defensive lapse midway through the second half to secure victory at Dalmatinac Park, open the club’s Night Series account and give new coach Taki Nicolaidis three points from his first game in charge.
Despite windy conditions, Inglewood dominated the first half with Callum O’Connell and John Migas combining to open Cockburn up on several occasions at the back. But the closest either side came to taking the leading was when Angel Andres skipped away down the opposite end only to be denied by the sharp reflexes of Alex Dunn.
With Jason Barrera pulling the strings in midfield, Inglewood continued to dictate terms after the internal with some fluent movement of the ball. The game’s solitary goal arrived on 71 minutes, Jason Colli harassing goalkeeper Dominic Savodelli into gifting possession to Woodall, who had the simple task of running the ball into an empty net.
