CONTERA STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF TEAM CULTURE

2016_01_14_Inglewood_pre-season_training__6986The many hours of planning and preparation over the summer months are beginning to pay dividends according to assistant coach Saul Contera.   Inglewood United have started the new National Premier Leagues season in superb fashion, a hat-trick of wins propelling them to joint top spot on the competition standings.

Contera attributes that positive start to an astute recruitment drive which has produced a cohesive player group committed to team success.   “We made a really conscious effort to target quality players who would impact us on and off the pitch,” said Contera.   “Creating a good team culture is paramount to long-term success.”

“The new signings are not just good footballers but they’re good people with a team mentality.   Everyone wants to be part of a challenging and enjoyable environment which they have helped to create.   They all work hard for each other and also for the club … there is a really good team atmosphere.”

And it’s those qualities that will help Inglewood achieve their season goal of making the end-of-season play-offs.   “We know we have a special group and we’ll be looking to take advantage of this,” Contera added.   “We want to make finals … the club has been languishing in the middle to bottom part of the table for too long.”

“The player group are experienced and as a whole know what it takes to win championships,” Contera added.   “As a team we work hard, we train hard and we have good attitudes.   If we follow our game plans there is no reason why we shouldn’t be competing to be in that top four.”
