DUNN NOT DISTRACTED BY MILESTONE

2017_05_27_Bayswater_vs_Inglewood_3983Milestones can be a time for reflection but goalkeeper Alex Dunn is focused on the future as he prepares for his 50th appearance for Inglewood United.   Dunn, who celebrated his 31th birthday a fortnight ago, has been a mainstay of the Inglewood backline since being recruited in September 2015 by then coach Michael Garcia.

“It’s been a bit of a journey, 50-games has come around really quick,” said Dunn who, should he gain selection on Saturday, will play his milestone game away at National Premier Leagues leaders Sorrento.   “It’s always a pleasure to turn up and play with a great bunch of lads and, hopefully, do Inglewood proud on matchdays.”

Dunn and his teammates have certainly been hitting that mark of late, dismissing Floreat Athena 3-0 and brushing off Bayswater City 4-1 in their last two outings.   “We’re coming off two very good all-round team performances, everyone has done their bit to contribute to two very big wins,” said Dunn.

“We’ve built up some good momentum and that’s always a good time to play anyone who is top of the ladder.   But we are under no illusions that Saturday will be anything other than a battle – I don’t think I have played a weak Sorrento team.   They always put a competitive team out on the park that doesn’t lie down easily.”

“Earlier in the season we came back twice to secure a draw at home, so there were some real positives to be taken from that.   We’ve moved on from our slow start to the season and are gaining momentum and building consistency.   All the lads are hungry for success and, hopefully, we’ll go one better this year and bring a trophy back to the club.”
