Alex Dunn’s shot-stopping talents have been recognised as the National Premier Leagues’ Goalkeeper of the Year.   The Inglewood United custodian was named joint winner alongside Jason Saldaris (Floreat Athena) at the West Australian Football Awards ceremony on Saturday evening.

“It’s a massive honour to receive the Goalkeeper of the Year,” Dunn commented.   “It was a bit of a personal target of mine but I didn’t know what to expect coming into the night as it was the first time I had been nominated and there are a number quality ‘keepers in the league.”

“I can’t thank (Inglewood goalkeeper coach) Dave (Whalley) enough, he has really helped develop my game a lot and improve my consistency in the past few years.   It’s great that the hard work is paying off and I am looking forward to continuing it into 2019.”

Dunn is the fourth Inglewood player to collect the Goalkeeper of the Year after Ronnie More (1996), Robbie Zabica (2000) and Oliver Taseski (2001, 2009, 2011).   The award caps a memorable week for Dunn who was recently voted Players’ Player of the Year by his teammates.
