FARRELL AIMS TO KNOCK OUT THE RUSTINESS

2017_02_26_Inglewood_vs_Sorrento_2026Irish midfielder Brian Farrell is pleased to have played his part in Sunday’s draw with Sorrento, but admits there is still a lot for him to improve on following his first outing with Inglewood United.   Farrell, 29, joined the club over the summer but an administrative delay postponed his Inglewood debut until last weekend.

“It’s nice to get my first game for Inglewood under my belt,” Farrell commented.   “I wasn’t overly pleased with my performance, I felt a bit rusty after missing the last couple of weeks.   But it was good to get 80 minutes into my legs and I’m looking forward to the challenge of being part of a new club.”

“I felt we could have easily won Sunday’s game against Sorrento.   I thought we played well as group, created the bulk of the chances and on any other day we would have scored a few more goals.   But to give Sorrento their credit, they are always a very competitive outfit and they made it difficult for us throughout the game.”

Dublin-born Farrell began his career with hometown side Colaiste Ide before a study opportunity in the United States led to a five-season spell with the University of Memphis.   After a short stint with Shelbourne he headed to Perth where he played a season with Shamrock Rovers before switching to Bayswater City.

“It’s been a difficult couple of weeks but I’ve put all that behind me and I’m happy to be an Inglewood player,” Farrell said of his move to Inglewood.   “The boys at the club are a great bunch, not only on the field but off it as well.   Everyone gets along really well so it makes being part of the team all that more enjoyable.”
