FARRELL FOCUSED ON PERTH SIX-POINTER

Irish midfielder Brian Farrell says his team won’t be dwelling on what might have been when they travel to Perth SC tomorrow.   Inglewood United squandered a golden opportunity to secure their place in the top four of the National Premier Leagues last weekend when Perth Glory scored a pair of late goals to steal a 3-3 draw.

That result slipped Inglewood down to fourth on the ladder, only one point above Bayswater City and three ahead of ECU Joondalup, with three regular seasons game to be played.    Farrell says that while being held by Glory was disappointing, Inglewood have moved on and are concentrating on their next 90 minutes.

“We worked really hard to get ourselves in to a strong position against Glory, up 3-1 with ten minutes to,” commented Farrell.   “So to let it slip was tough to take, it felt like we had lost the game.   Unfortunately, it’s not the first time we have shot ourselves in the foot over the last couple of seasons.”

“That being said, we can’t look back and we need to get down to work and focus on what is another tough game this weekend with another of the top four sides.    Perth has always been a solid team at this level and there’s no doubt that they will be up for the game on Saturday with the finish line fast approaching.”

“It’s essentially a six-pointer for both teams.   We need the three points to stay ahead of Bayswater and Joondalup in top four race, and Perth also need the win to keep pace with Glory at the top of the league.   The result will have a big impact on where each team finishes in the end of season shakedown.”
