Inglewood United is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Fiorucci as our inaugural Skill Acquisition Program Trainer. Fiorucci, a ‘C’ Licence holder with seven years coaching experience, will run the club’s in-house SAP program, which commences next month for selected players.
“We are delighted with Tony’s appointment as SAP Trainer,” commented Alex Stanojevic, Technical Director at Inglewood. “Under Tony’s guidance SAP will provide our talented Miniroos players additional contact and position them for identification to join our Junior NPL teams.”
“We are working hard to manage the transition from the Miniroos to the Junior NPL and Development teams by removing the need and associated stress of trials. We are very keen to continue providing an friendly, enjoyable playing environment in which young players can develop at Inglewood United.”
SAP provides a platform for players aged 9 to 12 to develop technical skills outlined in Football Federation Australia’s National Curriculum. The program focuses on the development of the four core skills – striking the ball, first touch, one vs one and running with the ball.
Fiorucci will work with Stanojevic and the Under-9 to Under-12 coaches to select players for Inglewood’s SAP training squads. These players will be invited to attend one training session a week under the tutelage of Fiorucci in addition to training sessions with their regular team.
