FOCUS IS ON OURSELVES SAYS BARNETT

Inglewood United head to the northern suburbs this evening in search of their first Night Series win of 2019.   The single point picked up in last weekend’s goalless draw with Sorrento has Inglewood positioned third in Pool 1, two points behind opening round winners Perth SC and Rockingham City.

Tonight’s opposition, Stirling Lions, were brushed aside to the tune of three-nil by National Premier Leagues newcomers Rockingham seven days ago.   Defender Mark Barnett says that scoreline has had absolutely no bearing on how Inglewood have prepared for the game at Percy Doyle Reserve.

“We have a game plan Trim (Morgan) wants us to play and we have the players to achieve what he is asking for,” Barnett commented.   “We’re not concerned with what Stirling did or didn’t do last week; our focus is on ourselves, our game and improving our performances.”

“Sorrento was our first proper hit out with a fresh squad, the lads put in an exceptional shift and we got a well-earned point.   The fitness is starting to come through now, all the boys are training hard and everything is becoming a lot sharper and a lot more intense with each session.”
