Free-Scoring Inglewood Tame The Lions

Inglewood United continued their improved form with a 4-2 win away at Stirling Lions. David Sesay gave the visitors the lead only to have Hayden Doyle level on the half hour. Abdul Sesay and captain Andrija Jukic put Inglewood back in control, and while David Micevski pulled one back Shane Pickering’s late finish sealed outcome.

“All the boys worked really hard for each other and I thought we got the result we deserved,” said Jukic. “It was a great all round effort from the boys, we have been playing some good stuff in the last few weeks and we continued and improved on that against a decent Stirling side today.”

It was an arm wrestle early on with both sides going close. The deadlock was broken after 22 minutes when David Sesay was given far too much room to drill in low via the upright from the edge of the penalty area. The home lifted and David Micevski’s long-range shot was well saved by Luke Martino moments later.

Stirling drew level on the half hour, Hayden Doyle finishing low into Martino’s net. But eight minutes later Inglewood were back in front, David Sesay speeding down the flank before centring for Abdul Sesay to fire in from close-range.

David Perich sent the ball wide from 10-metres as Inglewood signalled their desire for a third goal after the interval. Jukic came up with the goods in the 53rd minute, his deflected shot looping up off a defender and over stranded goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski.

Eleven minutes later David Micevski touched the ball past the defence and stroked into Martino’s net to bring Stirling back into the game. The outcome was decided with just over quarter hof an hour to go, Pickering poking the ball in at close-range after Stirling failed to respond to a Matt Danskin free-kick.
