HEALING DETERMINED TO MAKE AMENDS AGAINST JOONDALUP

2018_03_31_Inglewood_vs_Sorrento_9000Motivation won’t be in short supply when Inglewood United takes on ECU Joondalup this weekend according to English import Elis Healing.   The two teams met only a few days ago when Inglewood’s hopes of FFA Cup glory were dashed by Joondalup, who claimed the spoils by a 3-1 scoreline.

“After being knocked out of the Cup, we won’t need any extra motivation for Saturday at all, everything we need is already there,” Healing said.   “It certainly wasn’t the result we wanted and not one of the lads wants to be embarrassed at being beaten twice in a week by the same team.”

Monday’s elimination from the Cup came only 48-hours after Inglewood picked up three National Premier Leagues points with a sparkling display against Sorrento.   Healing, who teed up Alex Salmon for the deciding goal in that 2-1 win, admits he’s at a loss to explain Inglewood’s Jekyll and Hyde weekend.

“The performance on Saturday was terrific,” said Healing, whose team are six points behind joint league leaders Bayswater City and Perth SC.   “Against Sorrento we moved the ball around well and created a lot of chances, to be honest we really should have got a lot more than the two goals we scored.”

“But 48 hours later it was a different story.   We played well for the first 20 minutes but then completely dropped off, which has been typical of our season so far.   As soon as we get some consistency and back-to-back wins under our belt we will go ahead and put a long winning streak together.”
