Inglewood Backs Silver Linings

Silver LiningsInglewood United has joined the fight to prevent suicide through their support of Silver Linings. A non-profit organisation, Silver Linings was established with the expressed aim of raising money and awareness to help in the prevention of suicide, one of the leading causes of death for Australian men aged below 44.

Former State team defender John Migas set-up Silver Linings after his older brother, Stephen, took his life last November. “My family and I are still coming to terms with what happened and our lives will never be the same again,” said Migas. “I hope that by being a part of Silver Linings, I can help someone to overcome what Steve was going through.”

“Recent statistics show that more people die from suicide then either skin cancer or car accidents,” added Migas, who established Silver Linings with local football identities Richard Burton and Saul Contera. “These are alarming figures and hopefully by creating Silver Linings we can help at least one person to find the courage to reach out for help.”

Silver Linings is organising a charity event on Australia Day, 26 January, 2015 at Britannia Reserve, Mt Hawthorn. The days’ centrepiece will be the Starsky Cup, a cricket tournament featuring twelve teams, with a host of other activities including bouncy castles, family-friendly games and competitions.
