Inglewood Brush Aside Subiaco

Inglewood United Was rarely troubled in sweeping aside National Premier Leagues cellar-dwellers Subiaco AFC 4-0 this afternoon at Intiga Stadium. Ryan Clarke netted from the penalty spot after only a few minutes, David Sesay doubled the difference before half-time break with substitute Sean Browne and captain Andrija Jukic completing the route. “We’re a team that’s getting better and better and we’re currently now sitting at eight games undefeated. We’ve got to be happy with that and we’ll keep improving,” said coach Graham Normanton.

The ball had been in motion just 6 minutes when Clarke fired low into the bottom corner following a handball decision against defender Brad McDonald. David Sesay’s industrious work down the right flank was richly rewarded with Inglewood’s second goal after 19 minutes, the midfielder blasting into the roof of the net after his initial close-range effort was blocked by goalkeeper Henry Davies. Subiaco now came into the game but the safe hands of Luke Martino and the frame of the goal conspired to keep the visitors scoreless at the end of 45 minutes.

Inglewood stepped up the tempo following the turnaround. Davies thrust out a glove to prevent Shane Pickering’s header to a Matt Danskin free-kick from entering the net. Just after the hour Jason Colli drove down the right and stroked through for Browne, who had little difficulty side-footing past the advancing ‘keeper from 15-metres. Inglewood had by this stage set up camp in their opponents half, Clarke and Sesay orchestrating wave after wave of attack. Jukic put the icing on the cake in the 89th minute with a lovely shot on the turn from 7-metres which gave Davies no chance.
