INGLEWOOD GOES TO SCHOOL

2016_04_08_Embleton_Primary_School_2532Inglewood United has strengthened ties with the local community by gifting football kits and specialist training to the students of Embleton Primary School.   Club president Ces Colli recently arranged for a full compliment of playing kits to be donated to Embleton Primary School, whose students wore them for the first time at an inter-school carnival last month.

“Inglewood United is committed to helping the community, locally and beyond,” Colli commented.   “When (deputy principal) Chris Walker approached us we had absolutely no hesitation in providing playing shirts to Embleton Primary School, who share our colours of blue and gold.”

“As a community Club we see this as a stepping stone in reaching out and building relationships with the community.   We hope that the children and staff of Embleton Primary School enjoy their new football shirts and that they are a success both on and off the football field.”

Walker said having a football strip in Embleton colours means a lot to his school.   “It gives our students a sense of pride and provides them with the opportunity to be part of a team, and that is something a lot of our kids don’t have the opportunity to be a part of,” Walker said.

“It would be nice if all schools could have a football kit in their colours.   I know of a couple of other schools that have also contacted their local clubs, who’ve kindly donated playing shirts.   It’s a great way for the club to give back to the community and it also provides them with some visibility within the community.”

Scott Richardson, Inglewood’s technical director, followed up the kit donation by coaching Embleton’s students at the five-school sports carnival.   “The kids loved it,” enthused Richardson, who also ran a pre-carnival training session at the school.   “Everyone from the school was grateful Inglewood took the time to engage with the students.”
