Inglewood United have taken the spoils from this evening’s friendly with Perth Glory by out-scoring their A-League opponents 3-1 under lights at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium.   Kenny Keogh opened the hosts account with second half finishes by Alex Salmon and Chok Dau gaining Inglewood just their second win over Glory in fourteen meetings.

“Playing a team of Glory’s quality and coming away with a win is always pleasing, but more pleasing was the way we achieved the win,” said Keogh.   “We stuck to our game plan, worked hard and attacked when we had the chance.   Our overall structure got the better of them and we created some good openings … it was a good team performance all over the pitch.”

After a fairly tame opening, the game burst to life on 22 minutes when Keogh turned neatly to fire into the bottom corner after being picked out by Salmon.   Glory’s response was to carve out a series of chances but Adam Taggart and Daniel Stynes were brilliantly denied by Alex Dunn while Rostyn Griffiths headed into the post.

Inglewood tightened their grip over the game early in the second half, a partial clearance landing at the feet of Salmon who drove into the roof of the net from 30-metres.   Matthew Ntoumenopoulos looked set to add a third goal when Glory custodian tipped his shot away, and soon after Jason Colli fired narrowly over the crossbar.

Dau got the goal Inglewood were after with eight minutes remaining by sending Reddy the wrong way from the penalty spot after being impeded by Jack Leach.   Glory’s consolation came just moments from the final whistle with former Inglewood junior Jacob Italiano converting at close-range.
