INGLEWOOD “WILL DO ME GOOD” SAYS PEREIRA

2015_11_19_Josh_Pereira_6619New recruit Josh Pereira says his move to Inglewood United provides him the opportunity to grow and develop as a player.   An Australian Schoolboys international, Pereira has played much of his career out of Dorrien Gardens, operating in a defensive midfield role since debuting at the age of 17.

Now 23, Pereira is looking forward to the change of scenery along with the challenges that come with moving to a new club.   “A new environment will do me and my football good,” he said.   “It’s been a long time since I’ve had a new club, right now I just want to get settled in and show Inglewood what I’m about.”

Pereira is the latest on a growing list of new faces at Inglewood.   Coach Michael Garcia has explored every option in strengthening his squad with goalkeeper Alex Dunn, experienced defenders David Cyrus and Adam Tong along with attack-minded Jason Barrera set to wear the clubs’ distinctive gold and blue in 2016.

“There’s some good experience coming into the team and in big games that will show through, after all, those are the games we want to play in and win,” said Pereira.   “There’s a lot of potential at Inglewood and I feel that the direction the club is taking under Michael (Garcia) sets up well for next season.”

“I’m hoping for a lot of success with Inglewood.   I travelled to Sydney for the FFA Cup last season (with Perth) and that is something I want to experience again, and after losing the State Cup final twice I’d like to finish on the winning team … if we can be consistent then there’s no reason we can’t push for those top few positions in the league.”
